WRECKAGE
The broken, remnant pieces we retain from the
content of our lives; the building blocks of art
Wreckage Dance Project (WDP) sees a depth of creative possibility in the "wreckage" of our lived experiences, and focuses on deconstructing, organizing, and re-imagining these intangible pieces into dance. Our work investigates the mind-body relationship through an intersection of intellect and physicality. The work is always process-driven, inviting dancers to connect the pieces of themselves to one another throughout creation. As individual experience is directly impacted by social context, WDP engages with the rich context of our current time, environment, and circumstances to inform its work.

Hello! My name is Haley Tarling, and it is my greatest joy to invite you to get to know a bit more about Wreckage Dance Project.
I founded WDP because I love this art, and I love the Chicago Dance Community. Our art is an extension of our personhood, and it is vital to have spaces for this to flourish. WDP is a space that fills this need. To do so, we prioritize creating an environment where excellence and our humanness can coexist in movement and within our connections with each other.
As artists, I believe we all crave an artistic home, one where we can be shamelessly ourselves and fully alive in our work. WDP creates a home for dancers with this at it's core. We are thrilled to contribute to Chicago's dance community.
